Admission Process & Eligibility Criteria

The Hobby Course at the Government College of Art & Design, Nagpur is a six-month part-time program designed for individuals who wish to explore their artistic interests in a relaxed and creative environment. Ideal for working professionals, homemakers, retirees, and students, this course offers a joyful and meditative experience focused on self-expression rather than professional training.

Classes are held twice a week (3 hours per day), typically in the evenings or on weekends. Participants receive studio access, expert faculty guidance, and hands-on practice to build foundational skills in the following subjects:

  • Painting– Introduction to materials, color mixing, brush techniques, and basic composition.
  • Landscape– Study of outdoor scenes, perspective, and natural elements.
  • Portrait– Basic proportion, facial features, and expression in drawing and painting.
  • Sculpture– Introduction to clay modeling, basic hand-building techniques, and creating three-dimensional forms.
  • Printmaking– Introduction to simple printmaking methods such as linocut or monoprint.
  • Photography– Basics of composition, framing, lighting, and creative visual storytelling

These subjects provide a well-rounded foundation for anyone wishing to reconnect with their creativity and develop a personal art practice.

Admission: Based on merit (10th marks )
Intake: 20 students per batch
Duration: 6 months
Schedule: 2 days per week, 3 hours per session
