The Art Teacher Diploma (A.T.D.)

Art Teacher Diploma (A.T.D.) is a two-year specialized program offered by the Government College of Art & Design (GCAD), Nagpur, affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Art Education, Mumbai. Designed to prepare future art educators, the program integrates creative art practices with effective teaching methodologies. The curriculum for the first year emphasizes foundational training in drawing, painting, design, and craft, while the second year focuses on art education theory, lesson planning, educational psychology, and classroom management. Candidates must have passed the HSC (10+2) or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission. A.T.D. graduates are qualified to teach art at the primary and secondary school levels and may also work in community art programs, workshops, and outreach activities across Maharashtra and beyond.
